Disabling networking - Win95
From within Windows 95
- Click on Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.
- Open Network.
- Click on the Network Interface Card, then click on Remove.
- Click on OK.
Allow Windows 95 to restart the computer for it to take effect.
Enable Peer-to-peer Networking - Win95
From within Windows 95
- Click on Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.
- Open Network Click on Add, then Adapter, then Add again.
- Select your make and model of card.
(If you have an NE2000 card, use the driver that came with the card, rather
than Windows 95's driver.)
- Click on OK.
- Click on IPX/SPX Protocol.
- Click on Properties and enable NetBIOS over IPX/SPX.
- Click on OK.
- Click on Advanced, then select Frame Type.
- Specify Ethernet 802.2.
- Add Service: file and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks.
- If only one person is going to use this PC, set the Primary Network
Logon to Windows Logon.
- If more than one person will be using the PC, set it to Client for
Microsoft Networks.
- Choose the Tab called Identification and fill in the computer name and
workgroup.
- Choose the Tab called Access Control.
- Set to Share Level Access Control.
- Click on OK.
- Insert Win 95 disks 1, 2, 7, 12 and 13 (or the CD) as required.
Allow Windows 95 to restart the computer for it to take effect.
Confirm it worked by opening Network Neighborhood: you should see other computers
on the network.
Configure your drive to be shareable - Win95
- Open Explorer.
- Select the hard drive or folder on the hard drive you want to share.
- Click on File.
- Click on Properties.
- Select Tab called Sharing.
- Click on Shared As.
- Click on Add.
- Fill in details.
Share a drive on another PC - Win95
- Open Explorer.
- Click on Network Neighborhood.
- Click on Entire Network.
- Click on workgroup.
- Click on Computer.
- Click on drive.
- Enter password if there is one.
The drive does not have to be mapped to a drive letter, except if you want access
to it from a DOS Window.
Configure your printer as shareable - Win95
- From Toolbar, select Settings, Printers.
- Click on your printer that you want to share.
- Click on the Tab called Sharing.
- Change to Shared As.
- Fill in the details.
Share a printer on another PC - Win95
- From toolbar, go to Settings, Printers.
- Choose Add Printer.
- Select Network Printer in Add Printer Wizard.
- Browse for printer queue. (Network computer that already has it’s printer
set up as shared).
- Choose printer queue.
- Choose printer manufacturer and model.
- Add printer driver if necessary.
