China's quality watchdog is urging Sony China to speed up its recalling process across the country. Sony is currently recalling some of its popular Cyber-shot digital cameras over a screen defect. Still reeling from an embarrassing global recall of its laptop PC batteries, Sony says the LCD screen of 8 camera models may not display images correctly, amongst other defects. The recalled models were sold between September 2003 and January 2005. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Administration says consumers can contact Sony's designated service centers for free repair.
